Exam Antics

I left my cubbie to talk to someone about the paper requirements. While I was standing at the table a law student popped out of the paper "recycle trash can" to scare some students who were making copies at the copy machine near the bin. It was hilarious. I wish I had a video of it...no one expects someone to pop out of the recycle bins. The funniest part was that there were a whole bunch of students who had been sitting 10 feet away in full sight of the bin and nobody saw Keith get in there. Wow...we are all getting really tired and punchy.

You Might be a Law Student During Exams If:

10. The only way you know it's Christmas time is that there is an angel tree in the library entrance.
9. You are actually annoyed that the library is only open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
8. Because the library closes so "early" you leave with fellow students and find a classroom to study in until 2am.
7. You don't know what day of the week it is but you do know that it is "Evidence Day."
6. The best thing that happened to you all week is the Dean letting you into a locked interview suite so you could take your 3 hour "take away" exam in peace and quiet.
5. The best thing that happened to you last week were the donut holes that someone brought into your Federal Income Tax exam.
4. You obsessively check the "away messages" of your fellow classmates to find out how much more or less prepared they are for your exam.
3. You begin to blatantly disregard the "no food" policy of the library and have cookies, pretzels and chocolate donuts in your library carrel.
2. You begin to blatantly disregard the "no drinks" policy of the library and routinely walk in with Starbucks coffee or bottles of sodas that aren't in spill proof containers.

And the number one way to tell if you might be a law student during exams:

1. You constantly daydream about being a princess or even one of the actors in the Swiffer commercial because then you wouldn't be taking law school exams.

Exams are Over

Today I finished my last exam, Banking Law...that makes 5. My computer didn't want to cooperate with the exam software at first so I started and finished 10 minutes after everyone else. That's OK it's over now.

Now I have to focus on my paper. I have 8 pages of what should be about a 20 to 25 page paper. I'm hoping I can get out at least another 5 or 6 tonight and then finish up and polish tomorrow.

Once my paper is done I'm done. So here I am Jen v. Paper.

Who will be left standing on Friday?

Damn Capitalists

One exam down (Federal Income Tax) 4 more exams and a paper to go...

I am now trying to teach myself Real Property Security...this is hard because it requires me to have learned something in my Property class that I took last year...shoot, knew there was a catch...

I have decided that I hate Capitalism and personal property ownership...I'm moving to China or Cuba or North Korea...no Real Property Security there, no Sir!

Me and My Paper

Or My Paper and Me...I might write a song about it...it has become my buddy...

No wait, that's bane of my existence. 25 pages due...I have 7 which is 3 more than I had when the day started. Just 18 more pages to go. When I am finished I might burn all of the cases and statutes that I printed off of Westlaw and Lexis (sorry reclyly type folks, if you were writing this you'd burn your papers too...hey ashes are biodegradable aren't they?!)

Just under 2 hours and I have to put down my paper and start teaching myself Federal Income Tax. Then I get to study for exams and write my paper at the same time. Is this multitasking?

I will close with the IM "Away Message" of a friend of mine: So nothing is certain but death and taxes...Can we add death from the tax exam as another certainty?

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like...

Exam time....Just kidding....Christmas is the word you were looking for. Since Brad took the dog to Atlanta I have had no compelling reason to study at home so I have been spending a lot of time in the school library. Being in the library all day every day can be a bit depressing but today they put up a Christmas tree just inside the library entrance. It has no lights on it but it does have tinsel and garland and ornaments which makes it sparkly. Last year, because of exams and the very few days that I spent here in Winston after exams, I did not put up a Christmas tree and the only decorations I had out were three Disney ornaments that my mom got for me. This year is no different only this time I have a wreath and some snowmen that my aunt and cousin made for me. So I am happy that, although exams might be depressing, the library has brought me some Christmas cheer and every time I walk past the tree I can say "ooh sparkly."
